Darwin Quintero Makes the MLS Team of the Week

Quintero Week 28 Team of the Week

Minnesota United returned to Allianz Field with a 3-1 win against Real Salt Lake on Sunday. After falling behind in the first half, Darwin Quintero led the charge for the Loons with two goals to start the comeback. For his efforts, Quintero has earned a spot in the MLS Team of the Week for Week 28.

This is the fourth time Quintero has made the Team of the Week this season, last featuring on the bench in Week 17. El Cientifico started the comeback for MNUFC just four minutes after giving up the opening goal against RSL, dancing his way past the goalkeeper and pinging the ball off the inside of the post. He got his brace six minutes after halftime, blast a shot through the legs of the defender and beating the goalkeeper on the near post.

Besides scoring goals on both of the shots he took during the game, Quintero played a role in creating chances during the game. He set up his teammates with eight passes in the final third, including two key passes and a successful through ball. He also drew two fouls to set up free kicks.
