U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Greg Berhalter has called up MNUFC rookie defender Chase Gasper, along with 19 other players, to a pre-camp from November 2–9 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, in preparation for the conclusion of CONCACAF Nations League Group A.

The 23-year-old Gasper found his way into the Loons’ starting lineup after missing the start of the season due to injury. The first-round draft pick made his MLS debut at Colorado Rapids and his first start at home against FC Cincinnati. Throughout the course of the season, Gasper started a total of 14 games and played a key role in a defense that allowed 43 goals — a 28-goal improvement over 2018 — and notched 11 clean sheets.

“What a great story, a great end for, what I think, was a great rookie season for Chase,” said MNUFC Sporting Director Manny Lagos. “I think it’s a great opportunity for him to continue to grow and become a great pro and a great part of Minnesota United.”

The left back has represented the U.S. at multiple levels, with nine appearances for the U21 team and 12 for the U18 team. This is Gasper’s first non-youth national team call-up.

With the pre-camp falling outside the FIFA international window, the European-based players that will be part of the USMNT roster will arrive in Orlando beginning November 10, when the formal camp opens. That list will be revealed November 6 on ussoccer.com.

Facing must-win situations against Canada and Cuba in order to have a chance to advance to the knockout round, the U.S. will look for payback against the Canadians on Nov. 15 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando (6 p.m. CT; ESPN2, UniMas, TUDN). Four days later, the USA meets Cuba in George Town, Cayman Islands. Kickoff at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast live on FS1, UniMas and TUDN.
