Trio of Loons Make the Team of the Week for Week 2.

Minnesota United continued its winning form last weekend in San Jose and, once again, features players in the weekly MLS awards. Darwin Quintero, Romain Metanire and Osvaldo Alonso have made the Week Two edition of the Team of the Week for their roles in the Loons’ 3-0 win.

Quintero played a major role in the offense again this week, scoring on a penalty kick and providing an assist three minutes later to put the Loons out front. This is the second week in a row the Colombian has featured in the Team of the Week. He currently leads MNUFC with two goals and three assists through the first two games of the season.

Metanire makes his first appearance in the Team of the Week in just his second appearance for the Loons. The Madagascar international covered a lot of ground on the right flank, charging forward to deliver dangerous crosses while working hard on defense to preserve a shutout. His ability to stretch out the defense and launch long passes to fellow attackers created many scoring chances for the Loons.

Alonso also makes his first appearance in the Team of the Week as a Loon, featuring on the bench. He led the team with eight successful long passes and a 92% passing accuracy while locking down the middle of the field on defense. He made an interception and had a clearance that helped keep San Jose at bay en route to back-to-back road wins for MNUFC.
