ACQUIRED: Traded from Chicago Fire on 1.19.2018 

Lampson joined MNUFC on January 19, 2018 as a part of an MLS SuperDraft trade that included the 15th overall pick, $75,000 in General Allocation Money and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. He arrived fresh off a standout 2017 season for Chicago Fire, in which he started a career-high 24 of 24 matches, earning eight shutouts, 58 saves and a record of 12 victories, seven defeats and five draws.

In addition to his efforts on the field over his six-year professional career, Lampson has won accolades for his contributions to the community. He was named 2016 MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year for his work with young cancer patients and their families through the LampStrong Foundation and was nominated for the award again in 2017, 10 years after his own battle with cancer.

Lampson began his professional career with Columbus Crew SC, signing as a homegrown player in December 2011. In 2015, he spent time on loan at Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Charlotte Independence, before joining Chicago in February 2016.

He began his collegiate career at Northern Illinois State, but transferred to Ohio State soon after. There, Lampson posted a 0.86 goals-against average and secured 24 shutouts in 56 matches. He earned first-team All-Big Ten and numerous Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors among many other accolades as a Buckeye.

The goalkeeper attended St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a two-time MVP. He was also a member of Crew SC’s academy, with whom he advanced to the Academy National Finals in 2008.
