InternationalAustrian midfielder Dominik Fitz joined Minnesota United ahead of the 2025 MLS season from FK Austria Wien of the Austrian Bundesliga. A dynamic and technically gifted attacking midfielder, Fitz brings creativity, quick decision-making, and defensive qualities that have made him an instant fit in Minnesota’s evolving attacking system.
Fitz made his MLS debut on September 21, 2024, against San Diego FC, where the Loons earned a 3–1 victory for crucial road points. He went on to make a total of seven appearances (one start), including the Lamar U.S. Open Cup Semifinal against Austin FC. Fitz also made a playoff appearance in the Western Conference Semifinal against San Diego FC.
Fitz joins Minnesota United after having played in Austria with his hometown club, FK Austria Wien, since 2015. With Austria Wien’s senior squad, the 26-year-old attacking central midfielder made 204 appearances across all competitions (including UEFA Conference League and UEFA Europa League Qualifying fixtures), scored 54 goals, and provided 63 assists in over 14,700 minutes played. Fitz made his first-team debut in the Austrian Bundesliga for the Violets as a second-half substitute during Austria Wien’s match against Rheindorf Altach on March 31, 2018.
During the offseason following the conclusion of the 2025 season, Fitz married his longtime girlfriend, Lea.
In addition to his time with Austria Wien’s senior squad, Fitz competed for the club’s reserves side from 2015–2021, where he made 81 appearances, scored 27 goals, and provided 27 assists for the Young Violets. The midfielder joined Austria Wien’s youth academy in 2006, developing within the club before advancing to the professional ranks.
INTERNATIONAL: At the international level, Fitz has represented Austria at the U-17, U-18, and U-19 levels, making over 20 youth appearances for his country. He has yet to make his senior national team debut.
