Head Coach Adrian Heath

On how important this new contract for Emanuel Reynoso is…

“Well he’s an integral part of everything we are trying to do here. We’ve always said we have one of the best players in the league and for him to commit, which for me are his main years of his career, to the club speaks volumes for what we are trying to do here but more importantly, gives us a real integral piece of what we hope will be a real successful future because he will be a huge part of that.”

On who Reynoso is as a person, teammate…

“I’ve never had any issues with Rey [Emanuel Reynoso] since the day he got here. We’ve got a really good working relationship and I don’t sugarcoat things with him, I let him know when I think things aren’t going right and he responds in the right way. He’s come from a hard school down in Argentina and he takes the criticism whenever it’s due. But the most important thing at the start of the year is he has started to put some finishing touches and goals to his undoubted talent that he has. If we are to go and do what we want to do over the next few years, Rey is going to be an integral part of that.”

On the difference having Reynoso’s family in Minnesota has been…

“It’s difficult for people to realize that when you leave a country and go somewhere you don’t speak the language and it’s all new, it’s difficult and it takes time to settle. Some never settle. That’s one of the things we say as we get players, you can do as much homework as you want on players, but if, when they arrive, don’t feel comfortable feel as though it doesn’t feel like home for them, it becomes difficult. Now that he has his family here and gets his family and friends here regularly – maybe that’s part of the reason he is scoring more goals and looks more relaxed. We’re looking forward to having him. I know he’s pleased to be here so let’s go put some nice pieces around him and keep moving up that table.”

On how the team feels going into the San Jose game…

“Robin has trained today, hopefully he will be full in tomorrow and has no reaction to the work he did today. We get [Michael] Boxall and the Hondurans [Joseph Rosales and Kervin Arriaga] coming back and we are nearly there. We’ve got a couple injuries there, with Hassani [Dotson], etc. At the end of the day, I said six games ago that we have to win two and I don’t think that has changed. I think four points would be enough. Looking at everybody’s fixtures at the weekend. I know [San Jose] played last weekend but it’s about what we do at the end of the day. We haven’t played well enough in our two or three games recently to go and win games and now we have to. We certainly we have to win one and maybe have to win two.”

On San Jose and their approach and challenges they present...

“Well they have talent. Cade Cowell looks to be really enjoying his football at this moment in time, and [Jeremy] Ebobisse has a good goal record once again, Cristian Espinoza always seems to play well against us. We’ve had some good results [in San Jose], but I know that we are going to have to play well this weekend. Their last couple of results; they did alright against the Galaxy and then it was a draw at FC Dallas. They have enough talent and as always in this league we have to play well enough to win and if we do, we give ourselves a chance, and if we don’t, we will see where that leaves us.”

Midfielder Emanuel Reynoso

On signing a new contract to Minnesota United for the next three years…

[SPA]: “Feliz.

[ENG]: “Happy. The truth is since the first day I arrived, they treated me very well. I feel like a family here. I’m thankful for the club, the technical staff, and all of my teammates. I’m very happy and content, as well as my family. We’re very happy here in Minnesota. So I’m happy to extend my contract and give the most as always.”

On what he has left to give to the club in the next few years…

[SPA]: “Seguir aprendiendo.

[ENG]: “To continue learning. With the technical staff and with my teammates, I’m going to continue learning. Try to get better day by day and try to carry over, also, what one learns with another club. I’m very content, very happy to be here. I hope that I can give the best to the club, to my teammates, and bring happiness to the club. That’s the most important thing that I want now.”

On the difference between having his family here in Minnesota…

[SPA]: “Con muchas cosas.

[ENG]: “Many things. The idea of eating well and the day to day. The truth is that has changed me because when I was alone here, I wasn’t eating well, I missed my daughter, my family and since they arrived, everything has changed. We’re happy here in Minnesota. To be able to extend my contract is good for me, good for my family, and like I said, I’ll give my all. I’m going to give my best to this lovely club, who gave me everything.”

On what needs to be done to get a result against the San Jose Earthquakes…

[ENG] “First, believe in ourselves because we know we have a great squad. We know that we depend on ourselves, only ourselves and nobody else. So we will go to play the game how we do all of our matches… try to bring three points, that’s what we want. To repeat, it depends on us, it depends on our large, wonderful group. So we will give the best for ourselves and all of the fans, that’s what we all want.”

On the mood of the group during the international break…

[SPA]: “Entrenamos mucho.

[ENG]: “We train a lot. That is important, we try to correct things. We try to get ourselves well physically in order to play in this type of game at the end that will be very difficult. We know that there, San Jose is not fighting for the playoffs but it will be a difficult game at their stadium. We will give our best. As I said before, this group is for big things. I think we have a great end in San Jose and we will put all of our strength and our desire so we are able to win this game.”

On feeling pressure as the playmaker of the group to get a result…

[ENG]: “The truth is I like these challenges. As I said, we have a wonderful group where we are prepared for these things. We always try to give the best in each game. We know that it’s an important game for us and for the club. We play for a qualification in that playoffs that will be difficult at their field. We will try to give our best. We know that to go and win is what is important and to pick up three points.”
