Minnesota United Academy announced today the club’s newest group of youth players, an addition of 23 athletes who will play for either the U15 or U17 teams. Hailing from the Twin Cities, across the state of Minnesota and throughout the Midwest region of the United States, these new players will begin to train, compete and represent Minnesota United starting in the upcoming 2023/24 MLS NEXT campaign. New roster additions to the U19 squad will be announced at a future date.

“We’re thrilled to add a new group of players to our Academy as we continue to take steps forward by adding quality people with high soccer potential,” said Minnesota United Vice President of Youth Development Amos Magee. “We are excited to work with them and their families to see what they can add to our club. The Academy has a special opportunity to connect Minnesota soccer to Minnesota United FC soccer, and this group of players has all the qualities and capabilities to do so.”

To celebrate the arrivals to their new team, MNUFC Academy hosted the players and their former academy directors, alongside their families, at the club’s training center offices at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Each young soccer player captured photos as they made their commitment to the MNUFC Academy just days before their first official training sessions and ultimately the start of the 2023/24 season.

“It was important for us to bring up coaches [to the training center] that have played a large part in the development of these outstanding young players,” said Magee.  “We realize that there are countless coaches across the Twin Cities area, Minnesota and the greater region who are rolling up their sleeves and do great work to develop soccer players. We’re excited to continue to work with them, are thankful for the work they do and we are looking forward to furthering those relationships with them and future players.”
