Luis Amarilla Features on Team of the Week

Luis Amarilla notched the winning goal against Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, and earned himself a feature on MLS Team of the Week. After the Dynamo side was up 1-0, they seemed determined to run out the clock, but the Loons were never far away from answering, especially with Amarilla positioned up top. Luis nearly found the equalizer a few times during the match. One of his goals was called offside, and one was a beautifully struck bicycle kick that went just wide.

Emanuel Reynoso set the score at 1-1 with a free kick, but MNUFC was hungry for all three points, and Luis delivered. With just minutes left in regular time, Alan Benítez fed the ball to Amarilla, and he finally got the goal he was teasing the whole game.

With that second goal, the Loons secured their third win in a row, and the most points they’ve ever had over 27 games in club history. Amarilla is now second on the team in goals this season (9), and things are looking bright as MNUFC is firmly in the postseason push.
