Loons Open At Home March 12 -

"It's incredibly exciting, to have two games in an environment, to go away first in Portland, it's one of the best places in the world to go out to play a pro soccer game," said MNUFC Sporting Director Manny Lagos. "It's going to be exciting for the club, exciting for our guys and it will be a really fun day for the state of Minnesota."

Coming off a season that featured record numbers in both attendance and total television viewership, in Major League Soccer’s 22nd season Minnesota takes to the pitch alongside fellow expansion side Atlanta United. Highlighting MLS home opener weekend is the clash of the two expansion teams, with Minnesota United hosting Atlanta United at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

"To host at home against the other expansion team is always going to be a good story line," Lagos said. "There's going to be a connection that we're always going to have with them because of the timing of our expansion into MLS."

During the 2017 MLS regular season, each club will play 34 matches, including 17 home matches and 17 away matches. Teams will face each of their 10 conference opponents twice during the season with one match at home and one match away. Clubs also will compete in select additional matches against different conference opponents three times, and they will face each non-conference opponent once.
