Matúš Kmeť

The Slovak defender previously played for AS Trenčín of Slovakia’s top division. Since joining the club in 2020, Kmeť made 96 game appearances across all competitions, providing 27 assists and scoring six goals during his time with the club. 

Kmeť primarily played with MNUFC2, Minnesota United’s MLS NEXT Pro team, since joining the squad mid-summer, making a total of three game appearances and starting every match with the Twos. 

During the 2025 season, Kmeť was on loan to Górnik Zabrze where he made 14 appearances (8) one of those appearances being for the STS Polish Cup where he added an assist. In his time with the Polish side Górnik Zabrze, Kmeť has also added over 690 minutes.

Following his time with AS Trenčín, Kmeť was a member of his hometown club, MFK Ružomberok, from 2016-20. During the four seasons with his hometown club, he made 63 game appearances between both Ružomberok’s senior and second teams, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across all competitions.

At the start of 2026, Kmeť was loaned out to FK DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda of Slovakia’s top flight through June of 2026. 

INTERNATIONAL: Kmeť has made appearances with Slovakia’s U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 squads, where he made 29 game appearances and scored three goals across all international call-ups with Slovakia’s youth sides. Kmeť recently earned a preliminary call-up with Slovakia’s Senior National Team ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 Championship.
