SeniorOluwaseyi joined the Loons as the club’s 2022 MLS SuperDraft selection. In his first season with Minnesota, the forward saw playing time with MNUFC2 in MLS NEXT Pro action, making 10 game appearances, five starts, and scoring two goals while providing a single assist. He was sidelined for a large portion of the season due to injury. During the 2023 season, Oluwaseyi appeared in two regular-season matches and one Open Cup match before being loaned to San Antonio FC.
In the 2024 regular season, Tani made his first MLS start, playing 60 minutes and scoring one goal against Charlotte FC on April 1. He continued to showcase his scoring ways after providing eight goals, the second most goals scored after the 2024 club leader, Bongokuhle Hlongwane (11). The Canadian international became the second player in Minnesota MLS history to score in three straight regular-season away matches after notching the second of Minnesota’s three goals against Colorado on May 25. During the 2024 postseason, Oluwaseyi made his MLS playoff debut as a substitute against Real Salt Lake on October 29.
With the USL Championship side, the 23-year-old scored 16 goals and provided 7 assists through 25 regular-season matches. On July 30, 2023, Oluwaseyi put away four goals against Hartford Athletic, helping the team to a 5-2 victory. Just one week earlier, he scored a hattrick against Memphis 901 FC in a 4-0 shutout win. San Antonio qualified for the USLC Playoffs, and the St. John’s alum played in two matches, notching one goal.
The Nigerian-born Canadian national played 49 games in his four years at St. John’s University, notching a total of 20 goals, with a single season-high of 11 in 2019. Despite being sidelined by a knee injury in 2021, Oluwaseyi battled back to make two appearances in the 2021 regular-season finale and the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. In his junior year, Oluwaseyi was named to the First Team All-Big East, dubbed the Big East Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, included on the preseason watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy, and led the team with five goals and three assists. In his best season—as a sophomore—the forward was named the Big East Offensive Player of the Year, made First Team All-Big East, and his 11 goals hold the record for the highest in a season by a St. John’s player since 2003.
INTERNATIONAL: Tani earned his first International call up for Canada, where he made his international debut as a substitute against France during an international friendly on June 9, 2024. Along with teammate Dayne St. Clair, Oluwaseyi represented Canada on their 2024 Copa América roster. Where he made a total of four appearances (one start) before Canada lost in the match for third place against Uruguay in a penalty kick shootout. Since earning his first international call-up in June, Tani has made nine game appearances (two starts).
