Loaned OutCosta Rican winger Kenyel Michel signed with Minnesota United prior to the close of the 2025 MLS Secondary Transfer Window, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract through 2027 with a club option for 2028 but was loaned back to Alajuelense for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Michel arrives from LD Alajuelense of Costa Rica’s Primera División. Since joining Alajuelense’s senior squad in 2025, the winger has made 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal in the current 2025-26 Apertura campaign and one goal in the 2025-26 Concacaf Central American Cup. LD Alajuelense also was crowned champion of the Concacaf Central American Cup after the second leg ended in a 2–2 aggregate draw, with the title decided by penalties in a 4–2 shootout. Michel played the full 120 minutes to help LD Alajuelense secure the trophy.
During the 2024-25 Clausura and Apertura seasons, Michel was loaned to CS Cartaginés, where he featured in 27 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists over 1,400 minutes played. Known for his speed, technical skill, and ability to take on defenders, Michel has demonstrated maturity and consistency at a young age, earning recognition within Costa Rica’s domestic league.
INTERNATIONAL: Born on September 17, 2004, in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, Michel has represented his country at the U-20 national team level. Although he was called up, he did not log any minutes with the Costa Rica U-20 National Team.
