MNUFC2 battled San Jose Earthquakes II to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night, with Samuel Vigilante scoring the Twos’ lone goal early in the second half. San Jose equalized in the 63rd minute before earning the extra point in the ensuing shootout. MNUFC2 now turns its attention to a road matchup against Real Monarchs on Friday, August 14 at 4:30 p.m. CT in Utah.

3’ - San Jose Earthquakes II created the first dangerous opportunity of the game when Diogo Brandes Baptista sent a through ball to Julian Donnery down the left flank. Donnery controlled the pass, shifted the ball onto his right foot and took a shot that went just wide of the right post.

8’ - MNUFC2 were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Andy Farris played a short pass to Luciano Pechota, who then connected with Jakob Friedman. Friedman sent a cross into the penalty area, where Darius Randell headed the ball just outside the left post.

15’ - Earthquakes II midfielder Edwyn Mendoza gained possession in the attacking third and carried the ball to a few yards outside the Twos’ penalty area. Mendoza fired a long-range shot that went just wide of the right post.

32’ - MNUFC2 created another dangerous opportunity through Luke Hille after he received the ball while making his way into San Jose’s penalty area. Hille settled the ball and fired a right-footed shot that forced goalkeeper Nathan Crockford to dive to his left and send the ball out for a corner kick.

44’ - Quakes II goalkeeper Nathan Crockford was once again forced to dive to his left to keep the game level after Friedman carried the ball into the penalty area. Friedman settled the ball onto his left foot and fired a shot toward the far top corner, but Crockford denied the effort.

48’ (1-0) - MNUFC2 earned a penalty kick early in the second half. Hille stepped up to take the kick and aimed toward the bottom-left corner, but Crockford made the save. Samuel Vigilante then collected the rebound and tapped the ball into the back of the net.

58’ - Goalkeeper Kristers Bite made his first save of the match after Kaedren Spivey collected a loose ball inside the 18-yard box and fired a first-time shot. Bite was forced to dive to his left, sending the ball out for a corner kick.

63’ (1-1) - San Jose leveled the match following a defensive mistake by MNUFC2. Clarkson attempted to play the ball back to Bite, but the pass was too long and fell into the path of Zachary Bohane, who tapped the ball into the net.

81’ - The Twos created another dangerous opportunity when Hector Cruz made a run into the penalty area and connected with a long pass from Troy. Cruz fired a shot that curled wide of the right post.

88’ - The Loons earned a free kick on the right side of the penalty area. George Porter stepped up to take the kick and put it near the penalty spot, where Hille headed the attempt but went over the crossbar.
