Your Twos are back in town for their second match in a row, and their penultimate home match of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. With a four-game unbeaten streak behind them and a head of steam guiding them forward, Head Coach Fanendo Adi and the boys are looking to leave no doubt about their inclusion in this year’s postseason. Their next challenge? A home tilt against Whitecaps FC 2.
Last time out, the Loons downed Colorado by a 2-0 scoreline, with both goals coming from MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchweek Darius Randell. That brings Randell up to nine goals this season, just one behind first-team breakout star Marcus Caldeira for the team-high in 2026. His attacking exploits have filled the gap left by Caldeira’s emergence as a first-team regular, driving his side toward a strong finish. Add that to the recent addition of first-teamers like Julian Gressel, DJ Taylor, and Momo Dieng, and you’ve got plenty of talent and experience to draw from in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Vancouver’s season is running on borrowed time, as this weekend’s visitors have already seen themselves mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. That hasn’t stopped them from putting their best foot forward, though, earning a 5-1 victory over SKC II just two games ago, immediately after a 4-1 win over LAFC 2. Regardless of the season-long stats, nine goals in two games is an impressive feat that should make the Twos wary of their opponents ahead of Saturday’s matchup.
This will be the second and final meeting between these two teams in 2026, the return fixture of the Loons’ 1-2 loss at Swangard Stadium back in March. With just three points separating seventh from 10th in the Western Conference, these points will be absolutely crucial to MNUFC2’s final push, and between recent history and season trends, it’s shaping up to be quite the intriguing showdown. Eighth and ninth earn a play-in spot, meaning your ninth-place Loons need to at the very least maintain their current standing, if not jump up a few spots.
