MNUFC2 fell to Houston Dynamo 2 by a 4-0 deficit on Sunday afternoon. The Twos next week return to Texas, facing Austin FC II on Sunday, July 12.
6’ - Houston Dynamo 2 earned a direct free kick attempt just outside of MNUFC2’s goalkeeper box. Midfielder JJ Bell took the kick, but his shot fell right at the hands of MNUFC Academy Goalkeeper Kai Zeruhn, who did not have to move from his spot to make the save.
10’ - Dynamo Dos’ forward Austin Brummett took a shot from distance following a breakaway run by the home side. His shot ultimately hit the left post and deflected back into play.
26’ - The Texas side initially scored off of a corner. Samir Mohammed was on the left side of the six-yard box and netted the header when the corner service found him, but the goal was disallowed following a foul in the build-up of the play against Houston.
35’ (0-1) - Alan Martins scored the first goal of the match when he gained possession and drove deeper into MNUFC2’s defending third. He took on an MNUFC2 defender one-on-one before netting his strike in the top corner.
41’ (0-2) - Houston doubled their lead from a successful penalty-kick attempt by JJ Bell.
58’ - MNUFC Academy goalkeeper Alex Witte – following his second-half substitution to replace Zeruhn – made a save, stopping Arthur Sousa’s close-range shot.
61’ - Twos’ forward Troy Putt worked his way into Houston’s goalkeeper box, where he took the ball and made an attempt at a shot that was ultimately blocked by one of the Dynamo Dos defenders before the deflection was held by the home side’s goalkeeper.
70’ (0-3) - Reese Miller added to Houston’s lead, making it a 3-0 score line. Miller gained possession from a pass that went over the MNUFC2 back line, and ultimately netted the close-range attempt.
76’ - MNUFC2 earned a free kick attempt atop the Dynamo Dos 18-yard box. Forward Luke Hille took the attempt, but it hit the wall of Houston defenders and back into play to end the scoring opportunity.
81’ (0-4) - Houston scored a fourth goal on the day when Miller passed off the ball to Austin Brummett, who slotted the shot past Witte.
86’ - Midfielder Jakob Friedman took a free kick attempt in nearly the same spot as Hille’s earlier in the second half. Friedman’s shot forced Houston goalkeeper Logan Erb to make a diving save.
