
Nathan Smith
Biography
Nathan Smith joined Head Coach Fanendo Adi’s staff as the assistant coach in March of 2026. With over 20 years of experience developing and mentoring amateur and professional athletes, Smith joined MNUFC2 after previously holding the the associate head coach for role with the University of South Carolina’s men’s soccer team, where he served as the leader of the squad since August of 2025.
Smith joined USC’s program in 2023, and prior to his time with South Carolina, he was the head of IMG Academy’s MLS NEXT program from 2021-23, where he helped apply and integrate methodology across 24 teams, helping develop a number of players and assisting them before going on to play collegiately or professionally.
Smith also has experience at the developmental level in MLS, having previously worked with Atlanta United within their academy system. With Atlanta, he served as a manager, Homegrown Player development coach and also an academy coach from 2020-21. He currently holds both a USSF National A License and a USSF Academy Director License.
