How to Follow

Round One: MNUFC vs. Seattle

In one of the all-time great series in the history of Major League Soccer, Minnesota United outlasted the Seattle Sounders over the course of three games, winning both of their home matchups in PKs. The Loons got off to the early series lead thanks to Dayne St. Clair's PK heroics in the opener. The Sounders responded with an offensive explosion in Game 2, leveling the series and sending it back to Saint Paul for a decisive Game 3.

In an unforgettable Game 3, the Loons pulled off perhaps the greatest comeback in team history, storming back from an early 2-goal deficit while overcoming a first half red card that left them down a man for the entire second half. Tied at 3 after regulation, the match again went to penalties, where Dayne St. Clair once again pulled a rabbit out of his hat, saving a potential game-winner in the eighth round, before stepping up and burying what would prove to be the decider in the tenth and final round.

After defeating the Seattle Sounders in a classic Round One battle, Minnesota United will now await the winner of San Diego and Portland. If San Diego wins on Sunday night, the Loons will head West to take on the number one seed. Should Portland pull off the upset, Allianz Field will host the Conference Semis.
