Twos Host League-Leading Houston in Dynamic NSC Showdown

It’s Twos time this weekend, as the squad returns home to host league-leading Houston Dynamo 2 in a massive Saturday matchup. After falling to Timbers2 by a single goal on the road, Fanendo Adi’s side is champing at the bit to take back the narrative.

Leadership from veteran (aka second-year) Twos Alpha Kabia and Troy Putt create a solid foundation for the handful of new Loons to build on, and those new Loons are shining up and down the field — but particularly on the attack. Marcus Caldeira still leads the team with five goals, and Sam Vigilante just notched his first for the squad with assists by Darius Randell and Jakob Friedman. The duo of Vigilante and Luciano Pechota continues to bring electricity to the midfield, often combining with Max Harwood to progress the ball.

Meanwhile, Houston has come out of nowhere. After missing the playoffs last season, Dynamo 2 appointed Jeremy Hurdle as head coach and proceeded to take MLS NEXT Pro by storm. They’re undefeated in nine, with only a single draw (which they won in PKs). They boast the highest goal differential in the league at +20 and the lowest goals-against tally with four, and this is all for the most part without using first-team players. Star forward Austin Brummett leads the club with four goals, though Dynamo 2 have 14 different goal-scorers on record.

Suffice it to say that earning a result against this red-hot Houston side would be a huge statement for the Twos. Don’t miss it this weekend — get your tickets here to join us at National Sports Center Stadium, or stream the action live via MLSNEXTPro.com or OneFootball.
