Ramirez and Heath Named to MLS Team of the Week for Week 5

Ramirez Team of the Week

Two members of MNUFC were featured in MLS’ Team of the Week following the club's 4-2 win over Real Salt Lake. Christian Ramirez got the start at forward after scoring two highlight-worthy goals, making it four for him so far this season. That total has him third in the league, tied with Portland’s Fanendo Adi and just behind Atlanta’s Josef Martinez and Portland’s Diego Valeri, who are tied with five each. Erick Torres leads all scorers with six.

The second Loon in the Starting XI is Head Coach Adrian Heath, who saw the work his team had been putting in in training at last bear fruit on the pitch. The team’s confidence in attack came together and overwhelmed Real Salt Lake’s backline as they pounced on any opportunity that presented itself, earning Heath his first win as Minnesota United's coach — and the team's first MLS win ever. This is the second time members of Minnesota United have been featured in the Team of the Week — an award voted upon by the MLSSOCCER.COM editorial staff — following Brent Kallman’s appearance on the bench in Week 3.

Minnesota United faces the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, April 23 at TCF Bank Stadium, presented by the Minnesota Corn Growers’ Association. Kickoff is at 5:00 p.m. and single match tickets are still available. It’s not too late to join the Itasca Society. Fewer than 700 spots remain in this exclusive club as we rapidly approach the inaugural season limit of 11,842 members — one for every lake in Minnesota. A portion of all proceeds from these season tickets are donated to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Loon Monitoring program. Both season and single match tickets are available now at MNUFC.COM or by calling 763.4SOCCER.
